The Atlantic National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships will be staged today, from 9 am, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

The event will take place under the auspices of the National Primary Schools Track and Field Association and the Ministry of Education.

Schools from seven Education Districts, as well as the sister isle Tobago, are expected to feature in the day-long event.

The Tobago contingent of 83 students will comprise of 44 boys and 39 girls. Last year, Tobago placed third overall in the competition, but copped the victor ludorum and victrix ludorum titles.

Port of Spain and Environs have constantly emerged victorious but are expected to face their biggest challenge this time around from the athletes of the sister isle.

Anthony Garcia, the Minister of Education, is scheduled to address the athletes and declare the Games open.
