The journey to become your best self is a process that starts with a decision to make a change.
Moving from wanting to change your life to deciding to change your life. Believing that we live in a world of limitless possibilities—the belief that anything is possible.
The Universe has surrounded us with perfect teachers in the three Ps—patience, perseverance and persistence.
Jen Sincero said every human is born with the ability to make spectacular mistakes. The key is to see past the drama, guilt and criticism.
Nothing is as suffocating as the power of fear of what others may think. It’s part of our survival instincts—get ostracised by the tribe and you will freeze to death or starve or be eaten by the wolves. But nothing holds you back like fear of disapproval.
Nobody ever achieved anything big or new from their comfort zone. They risked ridicule and failure. Sincero further made the point that once you step away from the herd you will find yourself in front of the opinion firing squad especially if what you want to do is extraordinary or outside of everyone’s comfort zone.
You are responsible for what you say and do. You are not responsible for whether or not people agree with it or not. What other people think has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.
When you say or do something always do your best. If you do your absolute best you possibly can then you can feel positive about yourself.
Criticism is criticism, is it constructive or destructive depends on how you interpret it. The key question is, can I use this information to better myself and the lives of others?
If the answer is yes, commit to making the necessary changes; if the answer is no, let it go.
Sometimes it’s easier for other people to see what we can’t see ourselves and it’s worth taking the time to listen. By listening you get a new perspective and step outside the box of excuses and failure habits.
Do your best wherever you are.
As the T&T Olympic Committee (TTOC) continues to evolve and transform, there will be good days and tough days. There will be praises and criticisms but every praise and every criticism carries the seed of growth and progress.
Patience, perseverance and persistence in the face of obstacles, setbacks and disappointment are teachers.
Each test either strengthens or weakens.
As the TTOC and TeamTTO moves further along, the journey to 10 golds24, future is female, sport industry TT, and best practice sport governance among Olympic and Commonwealth sport organisations there will be days when progress will seem to be non-existent but staying focused while remaining positive is all about remembering opinions aren’t facts.
The month of May will see the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Baton visit T&T. This will herald a hectic period of activity for the TTOC in its role as T&T Commonwealth Games Association.
Also on the horizon is the Youth Commonwealth Games in Bahamas in July. There will be a myriad of events and activities.
Choose optimism. If there is something you want to do, there is no harm in trying it. If you fail, you fail! But if you don’t do it, you will never know.
Be a brave heart. Remember emotional enemies such as doubt and fear can hold you back from achieving your goals. Life and negative situations are cyclical.
