There were thrills and spills on Thursday’s second day of the Elite Pan American Senior Track Cycling Championships at the National Cycling Centre in Balmain Couva, with T&T’s only realistic medal hope Keron Bramble being the centre of a massive spill that saw him being thrown off his bike and into the stands during the Men’s keirin.

LONE OLYMPIC-bound national cyclist Njisane Phillip will leave his base camp at Milton Velodrome, Canada, and fly en route to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on August 3, for the start of his second competitive campaign under the red, white and black banner.

Sprint cyclist Nicho­­las Paul left yesterday for Argyle, Switzerland, for the 2017 track training camp which starts tomorrow. It will be the second stint at the camp hos­ted by the sport’s go verning body, UCI.

DECORATED VETERAN national cyclist, Gene ‘Geronimo’ Samuel, pedalled back the years to his 1991 World Championship 1,000-metre Time Trial bronze medal performance as he rolled out onto the sleek 250m Siberian spruce track atop a sprint bike for the first time at the National Cycling Velodrome in Balmain, Couva, yesterday.

On June 16, 2016 the Trinidad & Tobago Cycling Federation (herein referred to as “TTCF”) selected a Management Team comprising of David Francis (Team Manager), Elisha Greene (Mechanic) and Varun Maharajh (Soigneur). The Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) responded on the July 13, 2016 indicating that the maximum number of officials who can accompany the cyclist (Njisane Phillip) was two.

After receiving unanimous support from all clubs present at the most recent General Council meeting, followed by glowing support from the Minister of Sport, Darryl Smith on Friday, the T&T Cycling Federation (T&TCF) will host a major continental cycling event for the first time ever.
