Ten men’s and sevens women’s teams from the Rugby Americas North region will square off in Mexico City this weekend with places at Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 up for grabs.

The Rugby Americas North (RAN), Caribbean Championship will begin for T&T’s senior men’s team tomorrow with a clash against Barbados at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, from 4 pm.

Harvard Sports and Cultural Club were rewarded for its hard work all season by winning the Championship Division of the T&T Rugby Football Union by beating Trinidad Northerns in the final 29-15 at the Queen’s Park Savannah on Sunday.

MEXICO CITY — Mexico City, home of the Campo Marte athletic grounds, will once again play host to the annual Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens tournament on November 25th and 26th, 2017. The international men’s and women’s tournament was last played on the nearly 62 thousand square meter facility in 2014. All Members of RAN, including Associate Members and Regional Development Unions are expected to participate. This year’s international competition is a qualifier for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (CACSO) Games, 2018 Hong Kong Sevens, Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 and Commonwealth Games.

Harvard RFC avoided finishing the 2016 domestic rugby season without a major title in the conventional (15-a-side) game when they claimed the Premier Division Big Four championship on Saturday. They defeated Trinidad Northern 17-10 in the final at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
